The foreign policies of Obama’s administration are best explained through the perspective or theory of realism. When Barack Obama got elected for United States’ president in the year of 2008, Obama made countless of speeches where he was being identified with the liberalist notions of multilateralism, cooperation with allies, interdependence, and democracy. Their actions, however, speaks much louder than words, through the actions of his administration, it has been proved to be more of an actual realist than a liberalist. Towards the end of George W. Bush's presidency in the year of 2008, the budget has actually consisted of 671$ billion dollars. Since back then and up until 2012, the budget has increased by 34$ billion dollars. In the year of 2012, the military of the United States consumption was accounted for 39 percent of the total global military budgets. New additional expenses and assets were made with the arms dealers, such as the BAE Systems, the Boeing company, and Lockheed Martin Corporation. Thus, all of these three companies are well-known multinational/global corporations for aerospace, advanced technology, defence and security. His speech for the foreign policy in 2007 offers the plan of building strong alliances and collaborating with the other states in order to deal with the common risks and threats. When it comes to common threats, they are being explained and understood differently. To the extensive amount of civilians, that means the spread of contagious diseases/illnesses, poverty, transnational crimes, environmental issues such as global warming and climate change. In regards to Obama's authority, it means that human rights exploits in countries or nations that are rich with oil, and any potential threats to the United States' homeland
