According to Bob Riley, “Hard times don't create heroes." It is during the hard times when the “hero” within us is revealed.” In the story The Odyssey, Odysseus sails the sea and overcomes impossible tasks while trying to return home. Odyssey left his family to help fight a war which caused him to be stuck at sea for 20 years. Throughout the Odyssey, Odysseus shows he is a hero because he is Smarter, Spiritually stronger, and can undertake impossible tasks, unlike other men. Odysseus shows he is a hero when he shows he is smarter, and can think of clever tricks.
