According to Christopher Reeve, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to preserve and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles”. In the Odyssey, Odysseus is a hero who tries to get back home to Ithaca but he keeps going through obstacles that make it harder to get home. Along the journey Odysseus shows he's a hero by being closer to the gods, stronger than other men and smarter than others. Odysseus shows he's a hero because he's closer to the gods than others.
