Being a leader proves that one have this “super power” to make others want to be better. They have this ability to show others that without looks, they are these people that show that the mind is the mastermind behind everything. This epic poem called The Odyssey by: Homer and translated by: Robert Fagles tells a story or a “hero” with great loyalty and leadership, but his actions prove otherwise.Odysseus is this hero but when he is on his way home from the Trojan war he runs into some trouble. This trouble includes:mad Gods, cyclops, nymphs, shape shifters, druggies, and the list goes on and on. But during his journey he has these pit stops that are non- related to the journey and has all of these moments where he should have been a better leader, but chose not to and let his ego get in his way of being realistic. These decisions lead him to being stuck with Calypso, for five years, and gone for 20 years away from his family.When he finally leaves her island, all his mistakes from earlier come back to hurt him when he is trying to get back to Ithaca, to see his son for the first time, his wife, and …show more content…
All of the times where Odysseus chose to only think of himself and be the only one who gets the credit proves he is not so much of a leader as we thought. Andrew Carnegie says “No man will make a great leader who want’s to do it all himself or get all the credit for doing it.” Odysseus wants to do all of the big stuff himself so he gets the credit and that’s not being a leader, it is being a boss to the people around you. He had his moments to be a great leader and when he did it only shows how much of a leader he is not. Odysseus has some spontaneous moments in his journey but not enough to prove he is a great
