Oedipus Rex was a very different and strange story to me. I’ve never read a story from that time period before, so the strophes and antistrophes were new to me. I was very shocked when we read this play because it was sick. Oedipus had a prophecy on his life and his parents tried to stop it from coming true but they couldn’t. Fate seemed to be something that could not be avoided in this play. Since they couldn’t stop the prophecy Oedipus end up killing his father and marrying his mother and having kids with her.
