He first begins by stating that we should grant primates unprecedented protections. Yong defends his statement by stating that apes are like human beings and deserve to be treated like one and have the same rights as humans. In addition to treating apes equally, Yong also wants primates to be left unharmed and uninvolved in experiments. He also argues that if rights are granted to the primates, then it wouldn’t be fair to not give rights to dogs, monkeys, and rats.
