The CRC has a trained staff of registered nurses and research coordinators who have the skills and expertise necessary to provide a wide range of clinical services. These services allow health investigators, who lack the certain research capabilities needed for a protocol, to collect high quality clinical and translational data in a timely fashion. My role as an office assistant in the CRC involved being familiar with all of the current studies and their protocols, preparing patient medical charts for upcoming studies, contacting the College of Pharmacy for medications, contacting PI’s in regards to their study, and attending to the needs of patients and families. This position has allowed me to develop a clearer understanding of how clinical research can be executed and its fundamental role in establishing medical strategies and treatments that are beneficial for people. Relevant certifications and skills I have received while in this job include: First AID and CPR certification, CITI IRB and HIPPA certification, and the Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and Sharp Injury Prevention
