This tornado happened in 2023 in the state of Oklahoma. This tornado was very historic for the town of Shawnee. Shawnee is a small town in Oklahoma and is one of the most popular towns in Oklahoma. Oklahoma is known for very bad winds, storms, and of course tornadoes. Tornadoes in Oklahoma can average around 50 tornadoes per year. It was a long, quiet day and I was at school the whole day. The day was pretty nice with some clouds here and there, but nothing too crazy. We were done with state testing and it was time to finish the rest of the school year. There were only 4 more Fridays until I was done with this year. I wanted to hurry up and finish dinner so I got to play my game, but we had a big family dinner tonight and it took me forever to finish up. “There will be a storm later, don’t think much of it, but expect it to rain later,” my grandma said. It had gotten dark fast and there was a very bad storm outside. It was one of the worst storms I have ever seen in my life. It got so bad there was a flood of water in my ditch and my grass was just filled with water. I was getting ready for bed when my grandma said “We are on tornado watch for a little bit, we have to get in the hallway”. We got our pillows, blankets and we sat down in the hallway while my grandpa was checking the tv to see where the tornado was heading. “It will pass by us hopefully, but it could change direction”, my grandpa said, we then went back to bed. Me and my siblings woke up the next morning to notice that we were okay and everything was fine, except we figured out that the tornado had destroyed a bunch of buildings and houses in Shawnee.
