In 1956, the book Old Yeller was written by Fred Gipson. One year later in 1957, Walt Disney made a movie about the book. They both have a lot of similarities and many differences too. A boy named Travis is trying to keep the family protected while the papa is away. But a hydrophobia disease is going around. So a wolf was trying to attack the family. And Old Yeller was fighting him. Sadly Old Yeller had got bit and he got hydrophobia. Then Travis had to shoot Old Yeller.
The book and movie are common in some ways. The first one is, that in the book and the movie Travis shoots Old Yeller. They also are similar because When Travis was going to mark hogs with Old Yeller, they both get cut very bad by the hogs. A third one is, at the end of the book and movie travis gets a horse. The first is that in the book they had the bullfight. And in the movie they didn’t have the fight. Next, When Travis finds Old Yeller, in the book he eats the family’s meat. And in the movie The Just find Old Yeller and he didn’t eat the meat. Third, in the movie when Old Yeller go bit by the wolf, Travis shot him after days passed. But in the book when Old Yeller got bit, Travis shot him right away. Another one in the movie is when Old Yeller and Travis sleep in the cornfield and hear racoons, they start chasing them. And in the book Travis and Old Yeller never slept didn’t the cornfield and it never happened. Finally, in the movie when Travis shoots Old Yeller, him and Elizabeth bury him. But in the book, Travis and Elizabeth never buried Old Yeller.
Although the book Old Yeller, and the movie both have similarities. They also have many differences too. While the characters, and the type of narration are the same. Old Yeller still has the same theme for both book and movie. That is Travis learns how to grow up. He grows up because at the end he has to shoot Old Yeller even though he his his best
