Australian drama and theatre demonstrates and portrays a range of different perspectives on modern Australian society. Australian drama and theatre tend to highlight how Australia has made significant social and political changes to have a more enhanced society which has created less racial animosity, a more multiculturalism and a diverse nation, and the tendacy to accept has become easier. Australian drama and theatre illustrates how Australia conducted it self in the past and how our beliefs and opinion where controversial and even considered by some barbaric and inhumane. This year have read 2 Australian plays conveying different messages.Stolen by Jane Harrison, depicts the broken lives of five children; Ruby, Sandy, Anne, Shirley and Jimmy; and in doing so, portrays a myriad of personal experiences of those living in Australian Society. Jane Harrison is conveying all the problems that occurred between 1869 and 1969, many inappropriate things occurred during this time such as rape, abuse, forced marriage and much more. The play stolen was about how White British Australians miss treated native Aboriginal Australians, it shows how there lives were significantly affected by the by White Australia attempt of breeding them out which is also known as the Stolen generation which I believe was a genocide attempt. Its shows how Aboriginals were miss treated and discriminated against, it also shows how this affected them in the long term psychologically and emotionally. Most haven't recovered causing generational problems such as substance use, alcohol use, and a aggressive defensive nature.
