My favorite character is eighteen year old, Ona Lukoszaite. Even though, she is sadly, a representation of the weaker sex is not surprising. She stood up for herself because she fought for her man, Jurgis Rudkus. Her father disapproved of them getting married, so they both fled to America along with some relatives. I thought she was a brave soul for this act, especially because she went against customs. Once she got there, she got a job as a sewer but that didn’t make any money. At first, Jurgis wanted to keep her home so she could safe from the harms of working but that didn’t happen. Her whole family actually had to put their lives on hold, so they could work as well. Later on, she becomes a victim of sexual assault from her boss, Phil Conners.
