One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich
Ivan Denisovich Shukhov is a prisoner in a Soviet forced labor camp, known as GULAG. From the name you can guess what is that all book about, a description of a day in a gulag.
Shukhov's day begins at 5:00. Since he felt sick and stayed few more moments in bed (his bed was a bunk that he shared with other four people), he was punished and sent to sweep the warden's house. As he sweeps, he is careful not to get his boots wet. In the freezing cold of -30 degrees, wet boots means ice boots. After he finishes to sweep he joins his group.
