INTRODUCTION
The NAU Online Campus uses ProctorU for authenticating a student’s identity when taking an online proctored final exam, such as the final exam in this course.
ProctorU allows you to use almost any web cam to take an exam securely from your own home or local NAU campus. You will be able to connect one-on-one with a verified proctor through ProctorU via your computer, follow his/her instructions, and complete the exam online.
Please read this document to familiarize you with the ProctorU basics including:







Reviewing the minimum system requirements
Creating a ProctorU account (required for new users)
If you have already used ProctorU and are a returning user
Scheduling an appointment to test
Editing or canceling your appointment
Taking the exam with ProctorU

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Below you will find a list of minimum system requirements and equipment required to successfully use ProctorU. If you have any technical questions regarding the requirements please call ProctorU toll-free at: 855-772-8678 or e-mail at: help@proctoru.com. PC

A reliable computer running Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 with 500 MB of RAM or higher.

Mac

A reliable computer running Mac OS10 or higher.

High speed internet A reliable high-speed internet connection (minimum 768 Kbps/128 Kbps). Can test for speed at: http://www.proctoru.com/testitout.

Headphones

Headphones or working speakers connected to your computer.

Webcam

A webcam with 640x480 video pixel resolution and a built in microphone to communicate with the Proctor from ProctorU. ProctorU recommends the Microsoft Lifecam VX1000 (or higher models). This webcam, or an acceptable alternative, is widely available and the cost is about $20.00 - $30.00.

Adobe Shockwave

Adobe Flash Player required. Adobe Flash Player 10 is recommended. Go to: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/. The latest version of Adobe Shockwave is required. Go to: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/.

Java

The latest version of Java is required. Any/all previous versions of Java must be uninstalled. Go to: http://java.com for more details.

Logmeinrescue

Logmeinrescue is a file that you will need to run. It is a one-time session and it will not remain on your computer once the session is closed. It will need to be done in order to be able to connect with your proctor right before taking the exam.

The Authority, which you have on your own computer to allow remote access to your computer and screen by one of the ProctorU proctors.

CREATING A PROCTORU ACCOUNT (REQUIRED FOR NEW USERS)
Go to our NAU ProctorU website: http://ProctorU.com/national.
Click the "Schedule an Exam" button toward the bottom of the screen.
You must create an account with ProctorU:
Click "New User? Sign up Here"
Enter the following information:
Name
 First Name
 Last Name
Account
 Create your own Username and Password that you will use to log-in to ProctorU.
 Email (enter your email address)
 Create your own Password that you will use to log-in to ProctorU.
 Password confirmation
Time Zone
 Time Zone (select your own time zone from the drop down box)
Contact
 Phone home
 Phone mobile
 Phone work
Address
 Address: Street, City, State, Zipcode and Country
Enrollments
 Institution (select “National American University” from the drop down box).
