Part B Reflection My book Our Reef has the purpose of bringing light to the rapidly deteriorating state of the Great Barrier Reef through the lens of an Indigenous Australian child. It shows us how neglect and lack of action over time cannot be reversed, which is contrasted upon how taking action brings people together. This book serves as a call to action for anyone who can change their ways, even in the most minimal ways. This book represents the voice of Australia through both an Indigenous child and the aim to preserve the Great Barrier Reef.

A literary technique employed in our book is using broken/truncated lines along with repetition to build up both emphasis and tension. This can also be seen in Oodgeroo Noonucall’s poem “We are Going”
