I attended the performance of Marriage of Figaro on March 5th ,2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre at Texas State University. Marriage of Figaro was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1786 and premiered on May 1st ,1786. The instruments in the orchestra included, Violin I & II, Viola, Cello, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, and Timpani. The cultural influences were European Classical art. The opera starts off with the couple Figaro and Susanna preparing for their wedding day. Susanna is upset because their room is next to the Count's room. She then proceeds to tell Figaro that the Count has been trying to pursue her. Figaro is upset and plots revenge. The Countess is upset by her husband's …show more content…
It was choreographed by Julia Anderson. This was performed by the Strutters who meet every week for bible study. The artists is a Christian Rock band named NEEDTOBREATHE and the song was released in 2007. The cultural influences was the Christian faith. This was a slow song and the dancers ended up using the stage. The choreography was very graceful and the dancers were light on their feet. This piece was contemporary and I also saw some elements of ballet. The dancers performed this piece very gracefully. The Christian faith were reflected in the white costumes and while the performance occurred there was a bible verse displayed in the background on stage. White and Gold in Christianity, usually represents the brightness of the day. I think that ties in also about how in Christianity, Jesus is the Light and how he brings brightness to people's lives.
4. The fourth piece was called "Kiss" and was choreographed by Evan Anderson. The artist is Prince and this song was released in 1986. This particular piece was my favorite one out of the whole show. The dance moves were very grand and had some jazz influence. The stage was very sparkly and so were the costumes. The piece was influenced by the artist Prince. The time period (the 80's) were shown in the costumes, which had lots of glitter and also the lights were bright colors on
