I recommend stating a hypothesis in this study. Considering that this is a quantitative study, the absence of a hypothesis is not justified. The authors should have predicted how the treatment drugs were going to affect the participants. Without a hypothesis, it can also cause difficulty in identifying the independent and dependent variables as previously stated. It can also be implied that the research question would be about how the two different treatment drugs affected the participants in comparison to one another. I recommend clearly stating a research question, without a research question, confusion can arise about the purpose and results of the study. Clearly stating both a hypothesis and a research question can clarify the main point of the study and clear up any confusion. Both the study sample and setting were clearly stated, but there were unique problems with each. “The study was conducted at an outpatient primary care office that was affiliated with the university and specializing in providing addiction services.”(Neumann et al., 2019, p. 2). I interpret this as the researchers used a convenience sample to get their participants. They were easy to access
