You asked me the following, "Do you think that if these patients were fully informed on the dangers before being prescribed, they would take them, and if they had other choices besides these medications?" I believe there are those out there that take opioids purely to get high. However, a lot of the people I know take opioids because there is absolutely no other option for their pain management. While a large amount of those who do abuse opioids started taking them to recover from a trauma, and become addicted to them. I think those that can take something else should, and opioids should never be used for long term use unless absolutely necessary.
