The leaders I chose to focus and learn about are Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Malala Yousafzai, Barack Obama and Susan B. Anthony. Oprah is widely recognized as one of the biggest philanthropists and is most commonly known for her influential talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, though that was not always the case. Oprah went through a difficult time in America: she was a black American woman during a heavily racist period, had an early life of poverty, faced childhood abuse, underwent teenage pregnancy and lost her child in infancy. Life had thrown enough at her to be discouraged but she instead decided to take every opportunity given to her to climb the ladder of success.
