First, Santiago tried to make more money and help everyone else, and people around him became happy as well as Santiago. Then, he decides to observe the environment while travelling, and everyone became quiet as a result. Last, when Santiago truly believed in himself, he ended up completing his objective. This resulted in Santiago and the alchemist becoming better. The lessons that Santiago learned are great evidence toward the universal theme being: “When we strive to become better than we arem everything around us becomes better, too,” because it shows how the author clearly wanted to make the theme clear throughout the novel. To conclude, I think that our view of the world is based off of our efforts, and Paulo Coelho makes this very clear in The
