Orange Shirt Day is on September 30th and is also referred to as National Truth and Reconciliation Day. Orange shirt day was declared a holiday in 2013 after Phyllis Webstad shared her experiences as a residential school survivor and how her orange shirt got taken away. The reason why Orange Shirt Day was made into a national holiday was so that we can raise awareness to all the Indigenous children forced to attend residential schools in Canada.
