The coastline of Florida is a playground for lovers of sports and the mild climate helps the outdoor lifestyle. Ormond Beach Florida is a city in Volusia County and has a population of around 38,000 people. The beach is remarkably uncrowded and water sports are very popular, such as surfing, kayaking, fishing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, jet skiing and parasailing. The clear waters make it ideal for snorkelers and scuba divers. Other favorite activities in the region include golf, tennis, hiking and bicycling. The city is a good base from which to explore nearby attractions, like Orlando, Port Canaveral, Daytona Beach and St. Augustine.

There are exhibitions of local, national and world artists and the museum runs talks, demonstrations and art classes. The collection includes an exhibition of paintings by Malcolm Fraser, a Canadian born artist who had strong connections with Ormond Beach Florida. Four acres of botanical gardens surround the complex.

The most famous of the local amenities is Tomoka State Park, a protected area of 1,800 acres that is the home of American Alligators, wood storks, herons, white ibis and birds of prey, such as the bald eagle and peregrine falcon. There is a nature trail through hardwood trees, picnic areas, campsites and a museum. The museum houses artwork by a local artist, Native American artifacts, wildlife displays and items relating to Ormond Beach Florida history. Visitors can go boating, canoeing, fishing and hiking.

Nearby Daytona Beach is a Mecca for racing car and motorcycle enthusiasts. Racing made the place famous and regular meetings continue today.
