If the lesson is focused on direct instruction, the Hunter Model Performance Indicators would be most appropriate, however if the lesson is cooperative in nature with plenty of collaborative and interactive activities to enhance learning, then the Cooperative Learning Performance Indicators would be most appropriate. I believe cooperative learning in a classroom enhances the educational experience for all students in a classroom. Cooperative learning, or small group learning, “is the instructional use of small groups so that students work together to maximize their own and each other’s learning” while working toward a common instructional goal (Johnson & Johnson, 1999). This style of learning also helps to address classroom management since students are consistently engaged in interactive learning activities. Additionally, I would use the Tailored Behavior Response Observation instrument to address the three students who continue to struggle behaviorally in Janice’s classroom. This instrument was designed to gather data on a specific student’s behavior, along with teacher responses and redirection (Glickman et al., 2014). This data would be valuable to Janice while she works to create behavior contracts with these three
