I faced numerous ethical and moral dilemmas as a PICU nurse. I chose this specific experience because I was faced in the situation to advocating for my under age patient against his own mother. I was assigned to a 15-year-old patient for a Lumbar puncture and bone marrow biopsy. The Patient had a poor cancer prognosis, and had gone thru multiple treatments and procedures without success. The doctor had obtained consent from the mother the day before the procedure. When I walked into the room, I felt a tension between the patient and his mother. When the mother stepped out of the room, my patient ask me to call his doctor because he wanted to cancel his procedure. He knew his prognosis and he was tired of so many procedures that only caused
