The Ukrainian Canadians were often detested due to their Eastern-Rite Catholic religion. This was caused by their pagan history, the Ukrainians practiced pagan rituals, and abandoned the religion. However, they kept certain rituals which were later on disliked by the remainder of the Canadian community. A significant portion of the Ukrainian Canadian society had language barriers with the rest of the Canadian population, especially adults and seniors, who couldn’t learn English in time to adjust to their new environment.
