Cave paintings tell a lot about pre- life. The cave painting found in Lascaux, France shows that men hunted antelope or deer with bows and arrows that they created themselves during the paleolithic age. They were carnivores and to obtain their food supply, the men would go hunting and bring back these animals, which had many uses, not just for food. [Document #1]
Early man did not have that many materials available to him for creating tools since they used only what he could find was around them. With these limited resources, they still managed to use bones, ivory, teeth to create many different things. Images taken at a burial site in Italy suggest that the culture of paleolithic man honored those with power and thought that it was important to leave the dead with objects for the after life. The image suggests that this eighteen year old most likely had power or was related to someone with power since he was buried with a cap and a necklace made out of shells. [Document #3]
One trait of man during the ice age was resilience. It required paleolithic man to adapt and change along with their new environment. An example of this was that since they needed to stay alive, they were forced to follow the herd of moving animals so that they always had a reliable food supply. This was better than following only one animal because if they track single animals, they run the risk of not coming home empty handed. Another reason why they were resilient was because they realized that hunting on the ice was dangerous, so they changed. [Document
