In 1883, Palmistry experts, Henry Frith and Edward Heron Allen, wrote about an experience they had while attending a dinner party. Upon escorting “a lady” into dinner, they opened a conversation by accurately describing a few of the women’s personality traits. Astonished, she wanted to know how they did it, without having any previous knowledge of her. They explained it was by glancing at her hands after she had removed her gloves. Curious, she inquired to know more. After examining her hands more thoroughly, they gave her details of her past; then presented additional details she could expect for her future.
