This video shows Pamela Morgan instructing her students on decimals. She begins engaging the students a whole group by asking volunteers to provide insights into various questions related to the decimals. During the lesson, she uses both a whiteboard and number blocks to provide context and as visual aids for the questions. These questions and the tools help Ms. Morgan reinforce the students’ prior knowledge about decimals. During the group lesson, she strives makes sure that her students feel at ease with the basic principles of decimals before moving on to the next concept. One improvement to this lesson would be to use differentiation in her teaching. If Ms. Morgan was more aware of which students were struggling with multiplication she could then provide them with extra specific help and not necessarily the entire class. During the lesson, she gave all students the same opportunity to interact with the teacher as she walks them through the lesson. By the end of the lesson, the students appear comfortable and confident with the objectives. Ms. Morgan enacted the use of small groups as a way to complete a guided practice exercise during which each student was given a specific role in the group. Through this practice, the students were able to work with a peer in order to receive feedback and additional assistance. I did not note any specific classroom management strategies that Ms. Morgan used during her lesson but she kept an encouraging and composed tone throughout the lesson allowing everyone
