My first job was Panera Bread and you probably are curious why I chose Panera Bread out of all places. Honestly, I cannot even explain why I decided to work there I was just happy I was making my own money and not depending on my parents so much. The work I did there was easy and I thought working there was going to be a breeze. I started out by working easy shifts such as four o’clock until eight or nine o’clock. I was happy when the direct deposit hit, I was happy not having to close but, here I am a year later wearing the same tan visor and that ugly green apron and saying the same lines over and over again until it is time to clock out. I have asked myself numerous amounts of times if I really want this job at Panera. It isn’t always bad, but the issue is, when one person is having a bad day it is going to affect everybody. I have been there for over a year and my coworkers still test me. I understand there is going to be problems with any place I choose to work at. It was this one Saturday and I had to take the SAT and I was scheduled to work that day at four. When I was finished with the SAT I was exhausted and stressed out, so I decided to call my job and attempt to call out. I told them I was sick and the first line my manager hit me with was “you need a doctor’s note.” If I really was sick why would I go to the doctors if I already knew what was wrong with me. The next thing he said was “you aren’t really sick if you didn’t go to the doctor.” I was furious at this point because so many people call out or don’t show up for unnecessary reasons and this was my first time trying to call out.
