Even Muslims are coming to know Christ as their savior. With the independence achieved in southern Sudan, an atmosphere has been created that is very conducive to the continued growth of Christianity. The historic Christian religions/denominations of the Sudan, in the past have been reluctant to allow any overt introduction of other faiths and religious practices to be exercised in a missionary fashion. Currently in the Sudan and especially in the south, a number of doors have been opened as a result of the civil wars and the south’s independence. 4 It is evident that the main obstruction to the growth of Christianity in the Sudan is Islam and intolerance for other religious expressions; including the differences among various Islamic sects. Certain radical Islamists, such as the late and infamous Osama Bin Laden, are very concerned about stopping the growth and expansion of Christianity in the Sudan, especially south Sudan. In the Sudan, it is alarming to observe religion as a destructive and violent instrument. Although Christianity has experienced its dark moments of religious intolerance, Islam has not yet evolved to embrace an atmosphere of true and sincere religious freedom. Jonathan Sachs, the
