Paper Chromatography
Purpose:
The purpose of the lab is to see how paper chromatography can separate mixtures and then be used to identify the mixtures and calculate the Rf value of the separated pigments.
Materials:
 Small Cup
 Filter Paper
 Ruler
 Pencil
 Straw
 Blue and Black pen
 Distilled Water
 Straw
 Tape
Procedure:
 Obtain a piece of filter paper from the teacher
 Measure 3 cm from the bottom edge of the filter paper and using a pencil, draw a line across the width
 On the pencil line, make a dark circle with your maker. Make sure to get a large amount of ink on the dot. At the top of each piece of filter paper identify what color dot you have made.
