The Paralegal program had helped me a great deal in preparing for placement. My placement involved Landlord and Tenant Board matters and Small Claims matters. Small Claims class allowed me to become familiar with the Rules of the Small Claims Court, as well as how to prepare legal forms. My placement provided me with a lot of hands-on learning. I got to work one on one under a paralegal so that I could get a complete and accurate picture of what a career as a paralegal is like. My desire has always been to advocate for people and to provide a vital service. My career prospects are too work under a lawyer or paralegal and learn from them and hopefully, I will be able to utilize what I have learned and open my own practice. I would want to deal with Small Claims Court Matters, Criminal, Torts and Contracts, and employment law. Overall, placement has verified that when I become a fully licensed paralegal, people will be placing a lot of trust in me. The legal process can be lengthy and complicated. I will have a great effect on people’s lives and that is rewarding but also very intimidating. From going to court and watching my supervisor interact with clients, and seeing how desperate they were to have their issues resolved, I could see just how important the paralegal profession is to
