Not only the conquerors could occupy the lands or countries of the losers in the war, but they also acquired many valuable properties, cultural arts and native people. They sometimes took the indigenous people back to their territories to be their slaves, and brought the valuables back as their treasures. An interesting case of art treasures; for example, is ‘The Parthenon Marbles’ which has been debating for quite a long time. Greece has been trying to restitution the Parthenon Marbles from the British Government since early 1980s even though negative responses were always given to Greece as denial. Nevertheless, the treasures especially arts and cultures should be in the country where made them of, in my opinion, to state its sovereignty. It is very important for the nation to be proud of his or her identity. In this essay, I will start with some briefly history of the Parthenon Marbles and what the Parthenon Marbles is. Then, I will explain why I agree that the British Government should restitution the Parthenon Marbles back to Greece instead of being in England.
