Pass Fail Grading System

What if your school's whole grading system was completely being changed, how would you react? This is what might happen at our school today, with the school considering completely changing to a pass/fail grading system. This suggests that our whole school would change to this system, and it would be a big change. This grading system simplifies the system to two grades, instead of the usual 5. With this system, there are only the passing grade, P, and the failing grade, F. I am strongly opposed to this change because students like to see how their doing in their grades, and with the pass/fail system, there are only two grades, as opposed to the traditional system, and having the A-F Grades helps students see exactly where they are in a class, with being able to see a 60%, 70%, 80% instead of just a passing grade.

Another main reason for my position on this subject is that students like to see where they can improve on a subject, for instance, if a student had a B on one subject and then a C on another, they would see that and want to work on the one with the C grade to improve their grade on that class. With the pass/fail grading system, students don't have that option.

It has been shown that students with a moderately high grade, who can see their grade, are inspired to push forward to the highest grade they can get. I can say from my experience that when I see my grade is high, I want to raise it higher and do my best!
