In the “Legal alien”, does the speaker connect with others based on their cultural identity or do they disconnect? The speaker connects with others in the poem “Legal Alien”,by Pat Mora, showing her lifestyle as a Mexican and American. Mora states ,”viewed by Mexicans as aliens…”(p.32). This tells us that Mexicans view other people as aliens. Another quote is “(their eyes say,’You may speak Spanish but you are not like me’”(p.32). Mora telling us that Mexicans view people different like aliens, because their not the same as them. Pat shows his culture identity that if your not our own kind we don’t accept you in our country.
