Pat Summitt Award
Lauren hill was given the pat summitt courage award from pat summitt herself on April 5th, just a few days before her death.Pat summitt is a former women's college basketball coach who is not usually inspired easily. The award was given to lauren because pat summitt was very inspired and pat summitt isn't usually the one who gets inspired it's usually her inspiring others. Pat Summitt even said herself, “Man, I love Lauren. She's a fighter. I love that kid.'" One of the reasons Pat likes lauren is because she raised over 2 million dollars for her cause and cancer research. Another thing Pat said about lauren is "I couldn't be more proud of Lauren," she said. "To be here in Lauren's honor, I'd much rather she be here than me. Here's a 19-year-old girl teaching me about life." I love the speech Lauren delivered when she was given the award, it made me cry.

The game was originally supposed to be played at Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio. Could Lauren travel that far and make it two more weeks, healthy enough to play? Probably not, so the NCAA moved the the date of the game two weeks up and changed the location to The Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University, according to the NCAA website. This way, Lauren could achieve her goal to play and score in a college game. And she did, she scored the first basket, of the first game of the season. “Because in that moment, 10 seconds into the game, Lauren’s shot bounced off the backboard. Then it slid through the net.” Said the NCAA website. I was able to witness this unforgettable event in person, and it was
