Without pathologists, many diseases would be undiagnosed. This career plays an important role when it comes to making decisions and sparing lives. Some people would be living their everyday lives with life-threatening diseases and have no treatment. They collaborate with doctors to diagnose patients and their diseases. No diagnosis and beneficial treatment from the pathologists could cause chaos in the medical field and in society. “Pathologists are medical doctors who diagnose diseases by examining tissue, blood, and body fluid samples in labs” (“Pathologist”). Some pathologist even perform autopsies to find out how the patient’s cause of death. They also work with doctors and discuss treatment to benefit the patient and their disease. Pathologists are usually in the background investigating tissue and body fluids. Job openings are around how fast the average is (“Pathologists” 655). Openings per year are about 574 and grow 168 every year (“Pathologist”). Required education to become a pathologist is two to three years of an …show more content…
“Pathologists work closely with a team of medical professionals, including other pathologists, medical lab techs, phlebotomists, medical transcriptionists, and other various doctors. They may also interact with other residents and patients” (“Pathologist”). Pursuing this career could be extremely stressful because pathologists often make decisions that could severely affect a person’s life (“Pathologists” 655-60). Depending on where they work, there could be the opportunity to give information to medical students and teach them about the job. “Salaried pathologists usually receive benefits such as health insurance; pension plans contributions, and paid vacation and sick days” (“Pathologist”).
