Abstract

Significantly, Patrician and Plebeian class, were quite opposite sides, as we can also see in most of the world’s economy, where rich have influence and power over smaller and poorer population. Even though it was long time ago, differences between those two parts of Roman society, of that time, had influence on distress and “revolution” of Plebeian group, in which they rebelled against Patrician power and great influence in everyday life and decision making. This paper will try to picture and discuss differences and things that led to plebeian revolt.

Patrician and the plebeian class

Rome of that time was republic ruled by Aristocracy, and not democratically, so Patrician had great influence in society, but they left just little bit of rights to Plebeian class, like voting but not sitting in senate, . Previously Plebeians helped Patricians to overthrow a king, after Patricians were enjoying the “fruits of victory.” (Morey, 1901).

So Plebeians were poor, because during a war they couldn’t be present on their property to protect it. Even though Plebeians fought in war, they could not enjoy the fruits of it, and if we look that situation from this perspective, it is really frustrating and desperate. (Morey, 1901).
