Patrick Kearney (The Trash Bag Killer) Patrick Kearney is an American serial killer known as “The Trash Bag Killer” or “The Freeway Killer.” He earned these names because he would place his victims in a trash bag, and then scatter their bodies along the California highway. Kearney was born on September 24th 1939, in the east Los Angeles area, his mother was a homemaker, and his father worked for the LAPD. At a young age, Kearney was taught by his father hot to handle a firearm, and how to shoot livestock. However, what his father did not know is the great pleasure he got from killing the livestock, or how he would kill animals unsupervised and roll around in the blood of the animals. He came from a family that was stable, but also moved around…show more content… In his early years, while living in California, he developed a skill as a gay pickup artist. Majority of his of his companions where from the San Diego area, and from Tijuana Mexico. However, it was not long after this, that Kearney would claim his first victim. By 1965, he would claim several more victims, before moving to Redondo Beach with his lover David Hill. Kearney’s focus was young male hitchhikers, or going to gay bars in search for young males. He only targeted men that where smaller in stature, shorter in height, and would not overpower him. He has a very consistent way in which he would murder his victims, he would shoot them in the temple right above the ear, and then he would sexually assault the corpse. His first murder was in the spring of 1962, it was an unknow male at the age of 19. Kearney convinced the young man to take a ride on his motorcycle, lured him to an isolated area where he shot him in the head and then sexually assaulted his lifeless body. Kearney’s second victim was the cousin of his first victim, the reason for killing him was because he would have been able to do identify Kearney. By 1974, Kearny went on killing sprees monthly, even though he targeted young males. He also preyed on children and adolescents, his youngest victim was 5 years of age, and his last victim was an 8-year-old
