In the passage “Paul Revere’s Ride” did the author use a grim or hopeful tone? The author declares more dreadful statements than positive . In “Paul Revere’s Ride” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow the author uses a grim tone referring to death, war, and darkness and danger which overpowers the hopefulness.

According to the text on page 1 “Hardly any man is alive” (Longfellow 1). The author is using a negative grim tone . This quote is grim because it represents death.
