RECONSTRUCTION

PRE-CRASH:

On 07-30-2016 at approximately 0008 hours, Vehicle 1, (2003 Lincoln Navigator) was westbound on Bearss Avenue in the inside traffic lane, just east of and approaching the intersection of Livingston Avenue. The driver of the Navigator did not see Pedestrian 1 crossing Bearss Avenue. Pedestrian 1 was walking northbound across Bearss Avenue from the south side of the roadway, where there is not a marked crosswalk, or any type of pedestrian signals. The area of Bearss Avenue where the pedestrian was crossing, was not illuminated by streetlights.

AT CRASH:

Pedestrian 1 was walking northbound across Bearss Avenue from the south side of the roadway. Evidence from the injuries to Pedestrian 1, indicated the primary contact with the Navigator, occurred on his right side by

(A wrap trajectory is where the pedestrian wraps over the hood of the decelerating vehicle with his upper torso and head.) (IPTM: Vehicle-Pedestrian-Bicycle Collision Investigation Manual / Tony L. Becker) Due to impact, the pedestrian was thrown (wrapped) onto the hood of the Navigator. At impact, Pedestrian 1 assumed a portion of the speed of the Navigator and was thrown forward and away from the Navigator onto the roadway as the vehicle began to decelerate. Pedestrian 1 then tumbled north and west across the roadway, coming to rest within the outside, northbound lane of Bearss Avenue, along the concrete curb. Pedestrian 1, from the area of impact, was displaced approximately 101.89 feet in a westerly direction. The first identifiable point on the roadway indicating Pedestrian 1’s impact with the roadway was approximately 47.30 feet from the area of impact. The area of impact with the Navigator on the roadway was determined from the location of the first vehicle parts located on the
