Ever since I’ve been trying to find ways to gain experience within hospitals in any way I can. Although I haven't worked in any areas in the medical field I have applied to many different opportunities whether in the States or abroad. For example, I recently sent in an application to participate in a volunteering opportunity at M.D. Anderson that is supposed to last for as long as I am in college. I've also applied for the Atlantis Fellowship and have a video conference scheduled to see if I'm the right fit for them. I currently attend the Illustrious Texas Southern University. Not only am I a Biology Pre-Med major but I am also a part of the Minority Association for Pre-Health Students (MAPS), Collegiate 100, and the Thomas F. Freeman Honors College. All these organizations have not only taught me important aspects of life that most can’t find in a school setting but have also taught me more about myself then I ever knew. My short-term goal now is to graduate at the least a semester early. I’ve taken many of my required Biology and Chemistry classes already including labs and I plan on taking a few courses over the summer to achieve this
