1) Please describe the field experience setting in which this student has worked this semester. Jessica has worked at our Pediatric Urgent Care Clinic this past year. This clinic is open 7 days a week with a variety of shifts. A daily shift includes working with providers, nurses, and other patient care technicians. Our clinic is just for children and creates an environment that is less stressful and scary for children. Our clinic sees urgent conditions such as: Fevers and head colds Urinary tract infections Dizziness Pink, itchy eyes Earaches Sore throat Cuts Minor burns Minor broken bones Back pain Chest colds Minor asthma attacks Nausea and vomiting Strains and sprains Diarrhea Rashes

2) What sorts of duties has this person been asked to perform during his/her field placement? Jessica duties include performing basic patient care services while supporting activities within our clinic services. All these duties are performed under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional. Jessica’s job responsibilities entail rooming patients as they check in (obtaining heights, weights, temperature, heart rate, respirations, oxygen saturations, and blood pressure). She may also obtain vision acuity tests when indicated. Other tasks she is trained on include suture and staple removal, nasopharyngeal swabs, ear washes, and hearing screens. Strengths and weaknesses of the organization? Jessica meets job expectations and carries out tasks when delegated to her. She continues to seek opportunities to help out where needed in the clinic and works well with team members. An area of improvement is managing multiple distractions during the busy times of urgent care.
