As the prologue stated in the beginning of the book, “Can this cockpit hold the vast fields of France? The Pelican version had 119 pages of content and the Folger edition has 236 pages of content. What this comes to tell me besides that the Folger edition has more page, is that it also has more information that one can use to understand the play better.
As it comes to state on the very first page of Folger’s edition, “ Designed to make Shakespeare’s great plays available to all readers, The New Folger Library edition of Shakespeare’s plays provides accurate texts in modern spelling and punctuation, as well as scene-by-scene action summaries.” This comes to let me know that this is a book for an audience that is coming to learn about Shakespeare, whether it be a student like how we were in the beginning of the semester or someone who wants to get into Shakespeare but might not understand the writing too well.
The book contains some background information from the Henry V play and how it was one of his famous war plays, gives us information about Henry’s French descent, and talks about the language that is used throughout the play so the audience could come to understand and have more background about the play.
