The examples of texts appeals to the emotional appeal, by bringing up points such as “No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family.” This powerful quote proves in itself that marriage should not be segregated to just straight couples, that marriage is about love and living with the one you love. The amount of emotion put into the writing that Kennedy implied helped the Court to decide that letting gay marriage be legalized was the right thing to
