He sought out adventure, learning along the way how to be a better human and leader. I, like Pentaquod love adventure and learning through experiences. I would have continued on the river toward the Chesapeake, not turning back to conform to my society because it would have concealed my uniqueness. Pentaquod observed the tribe, their values, morals and customs before he bounded out of the woods to introduce himself. I think this was an intelligent way in announcing his presence. I think that is why Pentaquod was an excellent leader. He did not let the size and fear of the native tribe consume him. His new tribe was serene and accepting to his individualism. The native tribe believed this was what pushed a person to discover their inner self. I believe this to be true that individualism and creativity allows each person to be transformed into the person they are meant to be. Because Pentaquod traveled outside his compact world, he became a leader, a man people could trust, a friend, and his true self. Discovering the Chesapeake, progressing forward, was the reason Pentaquod succeeded throughout his journey. I learned from Pentaquod that through perseverance, determination, and curiosity, anything can be accomplished.
