Percival changed the most throughout the story, he represented the turn of savagery for all the boys. During the boys’ first meeting, Percival only recited his address, “Percival Whemys Madison. The Vicarge, Harcourt St. Anthony, Hants, telephone, telephone, tele-” (Golding 86). He was a scared and civil little boy, he had learned from his mother or school to cite his name and telephone number in case he was ever lost. That was the only thing he had said aloud and was too scared to speak to the entire crowd. Throughout the book, Percival’s character developed into a savage. In the end of the book when they are rescued, Percival stammered, “‘I’m, I’m-’ But there was no more to come. Percival Whemys Maddison Sought in his need for an incantation
