We always hear about hardship in life, inequality, and discrimination, but how many of us have been through it and still manage to survive and continue to fight?. For Americans, Injustice and inequality just seems like a page stuck in the history book. Reading and hearing about it seems like it's happening in a different planet, afterall, America is the land of freedom. However, what if you were to be told it's happening right here, in earth at the 21st century. Those going through such suffrage and hardships are learning to adapt to their situation, showing perseverance. And what better than these three texts, “Mother to son”, “The lost boys”, and “Saudi Arabia's freedom riders” to put you in their shoe.
The poem “Mother to son” is a mother explaining life to her son. She mentions how life was not easy for her. she's been through rough times, In the dark and bare floor, but the trick is to keep moving. “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair” she wrote. Yet, she is fighting and encouraging others to fight as well. She is telling her son that it's not a straight track, there are twists and turns.
