Helping hands

Have you ever been so lost in a world of hatred greed and deception? Have you ever been so depressed that it went past your mind, and body but poured right into what’s left of your broken soul, I haven’t but I know someone who has Johnny. Johnny was a high school valedictorian and a college graduate turned drug addict and one of Oklahoma’s many pan-handlers. Johnny said he always felt he had a bright future ahead of him but in 2007 his entire life went down a dramatic whirlwind of devastation. Johnny worked for a big corporation in Waco, Texas for almost sixteen years until he found himself jobless after the company went bankrupt. This event left Johnny without a job trying to find ways to provide for his wife and two kids. At the age of thirteen my mother and I moved from a little town of Kaufman, Texas to the big Oklahoma City. This is my first time seeing houses less than three miles away from one another in almost eight years. This also turns out to be my first time seeing a “hobo” and his name was Johnny. Later down the line my family went through hard times when our house burnt down leaving us with all but nothing. I had to stop doing treasure bags because I couldn’t afford that and all my belongings I had to replace. We moved to Midwest city and I got a job at Braums on fifteenth and post and the day I went to my interview I saw a clean and shaved Johnny. I saw him before he saw me I sat across from him and he looked up and smiled from ear to ear. He told me that he got clean and got a job because I helped change is world with a couple bucks and a treasure bag. He said that he knew Braums wasn’t great but it was a start, he said “you changed my world in a few days, maybe I can change someone’s world to but I knew I had to change myself
