1. Acknowledge Describe your experience I am in the car. Prior to entering the car I follow the same routine. I prepare my things and walk outside to the car. The driveway is a big sheet of ice and mud fills the spots where the ice has melted. As I approach the car I do a quick inspection to make sure that the vehicle is safe to drive. I have plenty of fuel and all the gauges indicate the vehicle is running properly. The windshield is clear of any ice or fog. I situate my things, plug in my phone, put on my sunglasses, fasten my seatbelt, and begin to drive. I am headed to Idaho Falls, Idaho today which is about a 45 minute drive. …show more content…
Intentional Attention Describe what you noticed
BREATH: My breathing is calm and I am not paying much attention to it at the beginning of my trip. As I begin to become frustrated with poor drivers, I focus on my breathing to calm myself.
BODY: My body is sore from a hard work out I did on Monday. My muscles are relaxed while I drive.
EMOTIONS: Many emotions run through my body. I had some blood work done and I feel anxious about the results. I feel stressed about school, which doesn't occur very often. My home life is good as usual and I feel happy about that.
THOUGHTS: My thoughts are on the road, school, and my blood tests. I think about the amount of work I need to get done on my applied project and feel the stress from that. I just need to organize my time, like I always do.
3. Accept Without Judgment Describe judgment; acceptance I quickly began judging during my drive. I focused on things that I could not control, like the bad drivers on the road. I let those things cause me to react to emotions instead of being completely in control. I chose to let go of the things that I cannot control. I cannot control other drivers but I can control my
