I began taking medical classes my freshman year of high school; Health Team Relations, Health Science I, and Health Science II were the prerequisites required for a seat in Nursing Fundamentals. In this two-period class, my classmates and I would train at a local nursing home to complete our requirements for the Certified Nursing Assistant exam. Part of our training was to help with everyday activities such as feeding and bathing the residents. Since our class met in the morning from nine to eleven o’clock, we spent more time on the bus to and from the nursing home than in class or training. We would arrive either minutes before breakfast was over or just after and a lot of our time was spent making sure the residents did not fall asleep before
